Call Of Cthulhu RPG (Chaosium)
The concept behind Call of Cthulhu is simple: The world was once ruled by a race of ancient and powerful beings known only as the Old Ones. Most of these creatures have fallen into a state of torpor from which they would only wake 'when the stars are right'. Players take on the roles of normal, everyday people who learn this terrible truth and have taken it upon themselves to stop the servants of the Old Ones from reawakening their masters. The game favours investigation over brute force as direct conflict with the minions of the Old Ones usually leads to madness, death or worse.
