Sci-Fi MUSH open for new players.
The Escape is a freshly-minted MUSH which is currently looking for players willing to both play and contribute to building the world the game is set in. The game relies on mature players and consent to get along theres no dice-rolling, so it would suit players used to coming to mutual player agreement to resolve situations.Whats it all about? Well, the player characters are either the crew or staff of a scientific research vessel, The Escape, which is testing an intergalactic jump drive capable of traversing the vast void between galaxies in an instant. After launch, however, The Escape was attacked while preparing for the jump, and is now stranded in a remote galaxy with low supplies and significant damage
including to the jump drive itself. For a flavour of the theme, think more Battlestar Galactica / Firefly / Lost In Space than Star Trek. Our people are lost, trapped on a ship together, with diminishing supplies. They do not have magical sickbays which can repair your broken leg in a matter of seconds, they do not have shields capable of deflecting incoming weapons fire, and they dont have teleportation. Space is vast and dangerous, and many on board have loved ones they want to get back to. Accompanying the MUSH is an ever-growing Wiki which all players may contribute to and build as the game progresses. Its also a good place to discuss ideas that youd like introduced to the game, or plots you think would be awesome. Players have the option of taking a crew or staff position at the moment. Crew positions are limited, but staff positions are not. Most staff are scientists, here to explore the new galaxy, and any branch of science is welcome. As the game progresses it may become possible to join the ship as a member of any of the new alien races the Escape discovers on its journey. Although the game relies on player consent, there are two GMs responsible for the game overall. Players may instigate and run plotlines of their own so long as they do not result in game-breaking situations (e.g. the repair of The Escapes jump drive,) and are welcome to discuss plot ideas with a GM to ensure they arent going to trip over anything vital. Most game-play takes place any time between 10:00 23:00 GMT, at least five days a week. This doesnt mean you have to be there all the time just that we can assure you of someone to play with if you happen to turn up during those hours ;) If youd like to know more, please email the_gopher_boy@hotmail.com (one of our GMs, Horus) for access to the wiki, where you can have a bit more of a read and see if the game interests you. 'We are a group of veteran 35+ gamers in South London (Sutton) who find ourselves in need of fresh blood due to long standing players marrying and emigrating (most inconsiderate). We take our games very seriously, but ourselves not at all so. If you like the idea of sincere play and complex, free form plots interspersed with action, politics, mysticism, hilarity and beer then we might be the group for you. We are currently involved in a long running White Wolf Middle Kingdon campaign (a basic grasp of Kuei-jin dharma or an interest in Eastern philosophy would be an advantage) as well as just starting a Hardboiled Cthulu game (tentacles and fedoras optional). Games currently taking place on Friday and Wednesday nights respectively. If you fancy meeting up for a beer to see if we all get on then please do get in touch. |

London on Board
We're a mixed bag of game players, mostly board games, some card games. An easy going group that doesn't take itself too seriously. Open and welcoming to any newcomers, whether new to board gaming or long standing veterans. Coming from various parts of London, we meet up alternating Tuesdays and Wednesdays in Central London (The City) to play games. We also have a Sunday meetup once every month. Which games we play of an evening depends on the people that show up, and the games that people take with them. We start at 6 pm and go on until everybody goes home or until the pub closes, whichever happens first. On Sundays we start at 12 pm. Games played vary from the light and fluffy to hard core euros and ameritrashFor more information, have a look at the site (http://boardgames.meetup.com/LondononBoard) or e-mail me at listerpaul at hotmail dot plus com (attempt to prevent spammers). South London RPG Group
South London (off Northern Line) group seeks players. We're a mostly fantasy-genre RPG group, mostly in our '30s, seeking new players for regular twice monthly games, usually in Clapham area, south London. We're a fairly friendly, relaxed group, and you don't need to know the rules of any game we run prior to play (one of our best players still doesn't...). :) We like cool characters, roleplaying, plenty of character interaction and development. Not too much power gaming*, though we sometimes run some quite tough battles... >:) We're a good group for creative, mature-minded players (not necessarily in years). We have a couple of different regular GMs - currently Judith is running an Arabian-based 'Desert of Desolation' campaign converted for 3.5 edition Dungeons & Dragons (5th level characters), which alternates with Simon's game. Simon is planning a high level Castles & Crusades game to start probably in May, PCs will be around 9th level. Currently our next game is planned for 12.30 pm Sunday 18th March, if possible we like to meet prospective new players beforehand in a pub or similar, maybe on the Saturday before the game. If interested, please email Judith Marshallsay whose email is alekto_uk (at) hotmail (dot) com with enquiries, and we can see about meeting up! - Simon & Judith (03/07) |

Ars Magica Game in West London
Outwit Baba Yaga to earn one of her intelligent magical horses, make arrangements with Grandfather Frost to avoid an everlasting winter, discover the secret weakness of Koshchei the Undying and thus end his tyrannous sorceries. Travel across the face of Moist Mother Earth in search of adventure, as did the boyarii of old, and develop your magical arts as a member of the Order of Hermes, a Europe-wide society of skilled mages.I propose to begin an Ars Magica saga, set in early 13th century Russia, based between Lake Ladoga and the Gulf of Finland. This will be run "troupe style," which is to say that everyone involved will be expected to take part in some way in running the game, ideally running a story of their own, from time to time, but at the very least, to take an active part in the life of the community that is the lifeblood of AM. To this end, character backgrounds are not merely a desirable thing, they are essential, and players whose characters lack them will discover that they are unable to perform any in-game actions other than speech. This game will be strongly character and community based, and as far removed as I can manage it from "kill the monster, nick its stuff." Ars Magica is set in 1220 in Mythic Europe, a place much like historical Europe of that time, with all of the myths and legends being true, or at least possible, and with a diminishing capacity to support magic. My idea is to have it based as historically as we as a group can cope with, allowing for the twists provided by myth and legend. I have a preference for running this on a Sunday, but am not opposed to Saturday if that suits any potential group. If this is of interest let me know, and we can begin discussions. The game will be based in West London, at Shadow Warriors games club. Recommended books for this are: · Ars Magica 5th edition rulebook [4th edition rules are not compatible] · Ars Magica 5th edition Covenants · Ars Magica 5th edition Houses of Hermes True Lineages / Societates / Mystery Cults (as appropriate for your mage) · The Dragon and the Bear (AM 4th edition sourcebook) · GURPS Russia Emaill: Ivan Hartley (02/08) |
