Heroic Scale (50mm) Miniatures Rulebook of Greek Myths & Legends by Alternative ArmiesTyphon is a special tabletop wargame that uses elements of roleplay and the Myths and Legends of Ancient Greece to bring life to a new and exciting range of 'Heroic Scale' miniatures.
Heroic Scale is the name we have given to the miniatures in Typhon, a scale large enough for each miniature to develop its own personality and appearance. The miniatures are both Mortal and Shades (Undead) and can be personalised with anything from a different shield or weapon to more advanced modelling techniques.
Combat in Typhon depends on the skill of the warrior and the armour or shield that he wears or carries. While the clang of swords often leads to deflection or a miss, some blows might meet the large round bronze shield of your character where there is a chance it will be absorbed or perhaps your prize shield might crack or shatter. If your shield does not stop the force of a sword or spear then your bronze breastplate or helmet has a chance also but in time these too will buckle and distort or even tear; such is the plight of soft metals. Your character could die outright or be knocked unconscious or suffer only a cut. So the value of armour and plumed helm are there to see but you will be slowed and exposed by these protective items as your character tires in the hot sun.
Central to Typhon are the Pantheon of Greek Gods, and every character belongs to one patron God, though they can pray to another minor one, these patron Gods provide gifts and powers to their warriors. A game can be greatly affected by the Thunder of Zeus or the Drunken Revelry of Dionysus, the Sacred Bow of Artemis or the Water Hurl of Poseidon. To know how to use the 'Gifts of the Gods' is central to Typhon.
